I spent most of the day going from one booth to another, asking questions, and getting a first hand experience of what these companies basically do. The variety was amazing covering distributors, manufacturers, production specialists and the geographic spread was wide too. Companies from Sweden, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, the US etc., and of course Finland were all represented.

In broad terms, the components and solutions on display touched almost every industry you can think of from consumer electronics to defence, aerospace, automotive, and telecommunications.

I came in with a specific lens, though. My background is in bioinformatics, and my interest sits at the crossroads of medical devices and biotechnology so I was quietly hoping to find something relevant to lab equipment or life sciences instrumentation. At each booth I visited, I made a point of asking the same question: are you involved in any way with medical devices or biotechnology lab equipment? Things like components for X-ray machines, DNA sequencing systems, imaging instruments; that kind of applications. The answers varied, but the conversations were always worth having.

One booth that genuinely caught my attention was Elma Electronic. They produce high-performance computing systems, and what interested me specifically was their work integrating AI into their hardware platforms. For bioinformatics work where you’re often dealing with large genomic datasets, complex pipelines, and serious processing demands having reliable, AI-capable computing infrastructure matters more than people outside the field might realize. I asked them about applicability to life sciences and research environments, and the conversation was a good one. It’s the kind of hardware that doesn’t get talked about much in biotech circles, but probably should.

I also came across a company I regret I didn’t catch the name that supplies components for microscopy systems. Microscopy is so central to modern biology and clinical diagnostics that even a brief conversation about the components behind those instruments felt relevant and worth noting.

Beyond those, I visited many other booths component distributors supplying everything from basic passives to specialized chips, PCB manufacturers working at impressive scales, and companies focused on connectors and power systems. The floor covered a wide enough range that whether your world is defence, electronics or medical-grade assemblies, there was almost certainly someone there working in your space.

The Highlight of the Day: The Evertiq Scholarship

Honestly, if I had to pick one moment from the entire day, it’d be the Evertiq Scholarship ceremony. Dennis Dahlgren, Senior Editor at Evertiq, stepped up to present the award for outstanding diploma thesis work from emerging electronics talent. This year, it went to two students from Tampere University in finland: Jingjing Yang and Razib Hasan for their thesis “Toward Non-Invasive Glucose Monitoring Using Optical Sensing.” The applause felt real, not just polite but actually meant. I’m not lying, I was a little emotional. I graduated from Tampere University too, so seeing two of my alma mater’s students walk up and get recognized in front of industry pros across Europe. That hit differently. Calling out the name of your university in such an occasion is something that instils pride in you, even if you were not directly involved in it. What made it even better was the work itself. Non-invasive glucose monitoring using optical sensing that’s not a student project for the sake of ticking a box. That’s research sitting right at the edge of where electronics and healthcare are actually heading. It’s the kind of work that makes you think the future is in good hands.

A Word of Thanks

Events like this don’t just pop up, a team tends to work long hours behind the scenes. The Highlight of the Day: The Evertiq Scholarship Honestly, if I had to pick one moment from the entire day, it’d be the Evertiq Scholarship ceremony. A Word of Thanks Events like this don’t just pop up, a team tends to work long hours behind the scenes. I owe a real thanks to everyone at Evertiq for making the day run smoothly and feel meaningful. But mainly Magdalena Maslowska, Marketing Manager, for letting me cover it and for helping out with the details. That part was probably the most appreciated piece of support. Final Thoughts If your job involves working with electronics, either through design, procurement, manufacturing, research, or even industries that are quite close like med-tech or industrial automation, then Evertiq Expo is definitely an event you should consider adding to your calendar. Attendance is without charge, the talks cover real depth, and the exhibitors are not only friendly but also well versed. It was a great experience for me as I was able to make new contacts, get a clearer picture of the European electronics sector, and have a few areas I would like to look deeper into for my own work. Tampere is still managing to be a technology city that produces results well beyond its size, and events like this are one of the reasons. It was one of those days where you walk in curious and walk out with a notebook full of ideas and a head full of conversations you’re still thinking about on the bus home. The Venue: Tampere Hall The expo took place at Tampere-talo – no surprise there, honestly. If you live in or around Tampere, you know this building. It shows up on your calendar more than almost anywhere else in the city, and for good reason. It handles big events well. The space is generous, the layout makes sense, and there’s a certain calm efficiency to how things run inside those walls. Walking in that morning, everything was already set up and ticking along nicely – which, having been there more times than I can count, is pretty much what I’ve come to expect from the place. So, What Was This Event Actually About? Evertiq Expo is a one-day exhibition and conference aimed at people working in electronics design, purchasing, and manufacturing. Think semiconductors, PCBs, embedded systems, components supply – the kind of industry backbone that most people never see but that quietly powers almost everything around us. Alongside the exhibition floor, there was a full conference program running throughout the day with presentations from real industry professionals. These weren’t polished marketing talks – they were practical, technical, and honest. Topics ranged from semiconductor date codes and obsolescence management to modular robotics in manufacturing, PCB miniaturization, and European EMS business strategy. One session I found particularly interesting was on evaluating electric motor efficiency – not glamorous on paper, but genuinely eye-opening when you realize how much energy is wasted in systems we consider “efficient.” There was also a talk on SCIP database compliance for electronics manufacturers, which is increasingly relevant for anyone placing products on the EU market. The afternoon ended on a warm note with a session on the Evertiq Scholarship – more on that in a moment. For the next Evertiq Expo events in Europe, you may want to check out their official website: https://evertiq.com
https://thebioboss.com/bio/tampere/my-visit-to-evertiq-expo-tampere-2026-a-day-inside-finlands-electronics-industry/
{"Written by":"admin","Est. reading time":"6 minutes
@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"Article","@id":"https://thebioboss.com/bio/tampere/my-visit-to-evertiq-expo-tampere-2026-a-day-inside-finlands-electronics-industry/#article
@id":"https://thebioboss.com/bio/tampere/my-visit-to-evertiq-expo-tampere-2026-a-day-inside-finlands-electronics-industry/
admin","@id":"https://thebioboss.com/bio/#/schema/person/b85e69c5b795f20686c122641f5aa110
My Visit to Evertiq Expo Tampere 2026 –
